The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong received its first Government Subvention in 1959 and since then yearly subvention has been granted to sustain the rehabilitation service for offenders and discharged prisoners. The Society was incorporated as a limited company under the Companies Ordinance on 23rd September 1966. The goal of Mercury III is to deliver AIDS prevention intervention with initiative care to target populations including prisoners, ex-offenders with drug abuse history and sex industry workers and clients. With the vision of employing health care as one of the interventions on the risk taking lifestyle among them, they will receive more support to enhance their rehabilitation.
AIDS Trust Fund started sponsorship to Mercury III since 2005 and has extended to four projects in 2011. Service includes providing preventive education services on HIV/AIDS and blood-borne diseases, free testing service to HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis C antibody .
